The school is registered with the Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal. It is a boarding school which aims at providing quality education to children from all over Upper Mustang. The school's syllabus is in accordance with directives of the Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal. The Tibetan courses are given in accordance with courses formulated for Tibetan schools in India. Besides music and traditional dances, physical education and a variety of extra curricular activities are offered by teachers and other staff. Enrolment into GCBS is available to students from all over Upper Mustang. Some other students may be considered for admission on special grounds and at the discretion of the school. An examination is conducted towards the end of each term. Promotion to the next class depends on the performance in monthly tests and final exams. After each term a progress report is sent to respective parents/guardians and this has to be returned signed. The purpose of this is to inform parents/guardians of their child's performance and progress. A management committee runs the school. Decisions about the school are made after discussions within the committee as well as with the teachers. Arrangements have been made to hold classes in Pokhara during three winter months. |
