| School - General information |
Lama Ngawang Kunga began his project by establishing a regional literacy program. The Great Compassion Boarding School was founded in 2000 and has grown in size rapidly. It is the first residential school in Upper Mustang and offers full education for students from the age of five. GCBS gives the children the opportunity to learn about their Tibetan cultural heritage as well as the regular school subjects. It has become a thriving integrated educational community for the children of Upper Mustang.
GCBS realizes the enormous responsibility it bears for the destiny of the children of Mustang and for the goodwill of the donors and sponsors who have sustained it over all these years.
However, there are some children who have not fared so well. Extensive efforts are made to further improve the lives of these children.
This is just the beginning; we still have a long way in fulfilling our aims and objectives in providing the children under our care with the opportunities to develop their abilities to the fullest. We would not have been able to do so much for the children without the continued help of donors and sponsors. Next Page>>
